Psalm 16:10 “For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; neither will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.” (Psalm 16:10)

Matthew 12:39-40 “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign shall be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the large-fish, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

Matthew 20:18-19 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, And will deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will-be-raised-up.”

Luke 13:31-32 “Just at that time some Pharisees came up, saying to Him, ‘Go away and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.’ And He said to them, ‘Go and tell that fox, “Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.”’”

Luke 24:39 “See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”

John 2:22 “When therefore He-was-raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.”

John 20:27-28 “Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach here Your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand, and put it into My side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.’ Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”

Acts 1:3 “To these He also presented Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.”

But God raised Him from the dead; and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people.”

Acts 17:30-31 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

Romans 1:3-4 “Concerning His Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 4:25 “He who was delivered up because of our transgressions, and raised because of our justification.”

Romans 6:3-5 “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was-raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.”

1 Corinthians 15:3-8 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He-was-raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as it were to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.”

1 Corinthians 15:52-57 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound and the dead will-be-raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this corruptible will have put on the incorruptible, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 1:21 “Who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”

1 Peter 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born-again to a living hope through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”

*Prophecies Fortelling Jesus’ Resurrection

Prophecy:

Psalm 16:10 “For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; neither will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.”

Fulfillment:

Acts 2:25-32 “For David said of Him, ‘I was always beholding the Lord in my presence; for he is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted; moreover my flesh also will abide in hope; because You will not abandon My soul to hades, nor allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. You have made known to me the ways of life, You will make Me full of gladness with Your presence.’ Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And so, because he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants upon his throne, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay. This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.”

Acts 13:32-39 “And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He-raised-up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son; today I have begotten You.’ And as for the fact that He-raised-Him up from the dead, no more to return to decay, He has spoken in this way; ‘I will give you the Holy and sure blessings of David.’ Therefore He also says in another Psalm, ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.’ For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers, and underwent decay; but He whom God raised did not undergo decay. Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this One forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

*Jesus’ Resurrection A Physical Resurrection

Luke 24:39 “See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” (Luke 24:39)

John 2:19-21 “Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I-will-raise-it-up.’ The Jews therefore said, ‘It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?’ But He was speaking of the temple of His body.”

John 20:26-29 “And after eight days again His disciples were inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst, and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach here Your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand, and put it into My side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.’ Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and believed.’”

Matthew 20:19 Three days inclusive “And will deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He-will-be-raised-up.”

Luke 13:31-32 Three days inclusive “Just at that time some Pharisees came up, saying to Him, ‘Go away and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.’ And He said to them, ‘Go and tell that fox, “Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.”’”

*Over 512 Witnesses To the Fact of the Resurrection

Matthew 27:50-53 “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook; and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.”

Acts 3:15 “But put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.”

Acts 13:29-31 “And when they had carried out all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. *Resurrection Proves Jesus WILL Judge the World

Acts 17:30-31 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

*Resurrection Proves We Are Forgiven

Romans 4:25 “He who was delivered up because of our transgressions, and raised because of our justification.”

*We Are Born-Again Through The Resurrection

1 Peter 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born-again to a living hope through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”

*Resurrection Proves We Will Be Raised In the
    Likeness of Jesus’ Resurrection

Romans 6:3-5 “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.”

*Jesus' Resurrection Proves We WILL Be Raised

1 Corinthians 15:52-57 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this corruptible will have put on the incorruptible, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, ‘Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:52-57)

*God Raised Jesus So Our Faith & Hope Would Be In Him

1 Peter 1:21 “Who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”

Acts 2:22-24 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus-the-Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—This Man, delivered up by the determined-fixed counsel and foreknowledge of God, you nailed-to-a-cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.”

*Historical Evidence of Jesus’ Physical Resurrection

1. When Peter and the Apostles first preached the Gospel, 3,000 Jews believed and were baptized. If Jesus had not risen from the dead, it would have been immediately known and the message would have been rejected, but instead day after day more Jews believed and were baptized (Acts 2:37-47, 4:4).

2. In the name of Jesus people continued to be healed of their afflictions (Acts 4:13-16, 4:33, and the rest of Acts).

3. The High Priest did not deny the Apostles’ claim of Jesus' Physical resurrection (Acts 5:30-32).

*Other Facts About the Resurrection

1. It is because of the resurrection that we are able to be born-again (1 Pet 1:3) and it is also our assurance of an inheritance in heaven that will last forever (1 Pet 1:4).

2. God the Father raised Jesus from the dead and gave Him glory, so that our faith and hope will not be in men, but in God (1 Pet 1:21).

3. It is through the resurrection of Jesus Christ that we have God’s assurance that if we come to Him through the blood of His Son we will gain a clear conscience before God (1 Pet 3:21).

*The Resurrection of Man

John 5:28-29 "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment."
