The Mystery of Evil

Hi Jane:

You said:

"There are two things that I just understood and that is there is a physical body and men have physical wars using their physical bodies killing each other and I just learned that we have spiritual bodies and so there are also spiritual bodies and they are also probably able to kill the spiritual bodies too during their spiritual wars. Am I right or wrong?"

God created man in His image. Godís Spirit is eternal, so is manís. God never created anything to destroy it. The Bibleís definition of death is to be separated from God, the source of all we enjoy.

"You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever." (Psalm 16:11)

To be separated from God is to be alive, conscious, and aware but in an existence of black darkness forever. This is because God is the source of all light. The Spiritual battle we are in is whether man chooses to serve God or Satan. To not Serve God is to automatically serve Satan. When Adam and Eve sinned, listened to the serpent, they yielded their God given authority over the world to the Devil. Thus why the Bible calls Satan the God of this world, at least until Jesus returns.

"And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

Jesus didnít just gain manís salvation for him, He also as a man through obedience to God regained manís rulership over the world.

"Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation." (Hebrews 5:8-9)

"And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he should not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." (Revelation 20:1-4, Jeremiah 3:17)

Even though that is a spiritual reality, it will not be manifest completely until Jesus returns and reclaims His earth and rules, Revelation tells us, on this earth for a thousand years. During that time Satan will be bound with chains in the bottomless pit. After that the Bible says the present heavens and earth will be done away with and God will create a new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells, meaning where no sin dwells of any kind.

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea." (Revelation 21:1)

When a physical war breaks out it is because the battle was first lost in the spiritual realm. War always starts in the spiritual realm and is eventually manifested physically. When war breaks out it is evidence that the church has failed. Jesus said in Matthew 5:13,

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under food by men."

It is always a spiritual battle first which eventually spills over into the physical realm. That is why Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12,

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

If every Christian joined in the battle, if every Christian used their free time and talents to reach others with the Gospel, we would win this world over in a short time. The first century church did, and in a short time turned a pagan Roman society into a government that claimed Christianity the only true religion, and they did this without firing a shot, they did it through love and self-sacrifice.

Jane, about ten years ago for a time, I got up earlier in my mornings and just spent time with the Father. I knew Jesus, I experienced the Holy Spirit, but I did not know the Father very well. I was very burdened over America at the time. I wanted to know why America, a nation started by Christians who came here so they could worship Jesus without persecution, was now turning away from God. The Lordís answer to me was very sobering. He said to me:

"Dale, when America looks at Christians, they donít see anything different about them then they see in themselves. They see Christians willing to sacrifice anything for money, personal peace and affluence. They donít see people who so believe in the reality of heaven and hell that they are willing to sacrifice all they have to reach others with this message. They see people who claim to be Christians laying down their arms at the slightest whimper or if it will cost them their jobs or a new car or a house. They donít see that they really believe what they are saying is true."

He then said to me,

"The only way America will be brought back to God is when Christians in America are willing to sacrifice all this life has to offer to bring others to Myself, because only when Americans see Christians doing that will they know that what they have is more real than anything this life has to offer and will they then believe and turn to Me."

Jane, He told me this after he had sent me up to New Hampshire to train Christian laymen in Evangelism to reach out to their neighbors with the love of Jesus Christ. As I was getting ready to do this, the husband of a woman, at whose Christian camp I had been invited to give this instruction spread the rumor that I had been hitting on his wife. It destroyed my ability to do the work there God wanted me to do. It was an absolute lie, but the lie had been spread. Godís people will do whatever is necessary to avoid being involved in the battle of the souls of men, I mean anything.

For the next several days I had this great anger toward the body of Christ in that area. I could not seem to get freed of the anger I was feeling. I finally went over to a friend of mineís there and asked him to pray with me that God would release me from the anger I was feeling. God did not free me of my anger but he did tell me to read the book of Jeremiah. Jeremiah was a prophet called of God to call Godís people to return to God, to get rid of their idols and false godís. God told Jeremiah he was called to preach a message no one would listen too. Israel didnít listen and so the nation of Israel was judged and sent into exile in Babylon for 70 years until the King Cyrus of Persia who overcame Babylon sent Israel back to their land.

As I read the book of Jeremiah I saw how angry God was with his people. He kept telling Jeremiah "Donít pray for them!" After I had read about 20 chapters the Lord said to me "What do you see?" I said, "Jesus, you are really ticked off at Israel, really angry for the hardness of heart of your people." Then He said to me, "Dale, the anger you are feeling toward my people is not your anger, it is My anger!" I thought "Wow!!!" Then the anger went away. He said to me,

"My people in America, all they care about is pursuing this life. Until they are willing to sacrifice all to bring others to Me, America will not return to me, until America sees they believe that what Heaven has to offer is more real than what Satan has to offer in this world system, America will not believe and return to me."

Jesus said in Luke 18:8 "When the Son of man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" He was referring to the Church, not the lost world. Will he find a Church that trusts in Him and His word, or a church who has surrendered without a fight chasing this temporary world that will be destroyed with fire? Peter wrote,

"Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, ĎWhere is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.í For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the Word-of-God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But the present heavens and earth by His word are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men." (2 Peter 3:3-7)

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18,

"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Jane, I was praying asking the Lord to help me help you understand what the battle is all about. There is only one God who requires absolute obedience. The Battle is not a battle between God and Satan, the battle is a battle over those who chose to submit in obedience to God and His reign over them and those who do not. Any rebellion buts a person in Satanís camp. Satan was the first created being who rebelled. The Bible states that He took a third of the angels in heaven with him in his rebellion. These are the demons.

Rebellion is anything we do that Godís Holy Spirit has not initiated through our human spirit first. Any independent decision without seeking Godís counsel is rebellion. It is not a battle between God and Satan, but God and His subjects who commit absolute obedience to him and those who live their own lives and donít seek Him or obey His rule over them. Satan was just the first to rebel against Godís reign over him. Therefore anyone who chooses self-rule is automatically aligned with Satan in his rebellion, and a person who rejects Godís reign over them, God honors their choice and His reign and protection over them is removed. That means whatever rebellious spiritual forces that exist can do to that person whatever they want because they are no longer under Godís protection. Only one thing gives us Godís protection from rebellious spirits whether human or demonic. James wrote about what that is in James 4:7 "Submit therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Only God can protect us from evil rebellious spirits and humans. Apart from God, we are on our own and doomed! The Prophet Samuel wrote in 1 Samuel 15:22-23

"Has Yehovah as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Yehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry."

Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:1-3,

"And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the age of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest."

Note it says "you formerly. . . sons of disobedience." Anyone who is not serving Jesus is a son of disobedience and God doesnít sick Satan on them, God has nothing to do with Satan. It is just that when out from under Godís protection, Satan is able to invade and manipulate that person. Satan is evil, he loves no one. He hates God and wants to destroy anything He created. Satan was the most powerful being God ever created, therefore by virtue of His power he rules the sons of disobedience. God never destroys anything he created. If we are not in Godís camp, we are in the camp of the rebellious and no one created by God, apart from God Himself, is more powerful than Satan. As a result Satan rules the realm of the rebellious whether the rebellious want his rule or not. Satan is the top bully and no one outside of Jesusí, Godís, protection and power is able to fight and overcome him. That is why there is no middle ground in. Jesus put it this way,

"He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters." (Matthew 12:30)

Jane, when you submit yourself to Jesus, seek His will and then walk in his will, you tell others this is the right thing to do and thus encourage others to do the same. That is why Jesus said "He who is not with me is against me, and he who is not with me scatters." We are either living for Him and encouraging others to do the same, or doing our own thing as Satan has chosen to do and have joined the sons of disobedience and by our example encouraging others to do the same.

You said "Well, I know that what I am saying is childish and shows my immaturity both physically and spiritually, I do know that many women and children do get killed sitting at home twiddling their fingers that is why I guess everyone needs to learn to fight physically and spiritually." Jane, when I applied for Bible college, at first I was not accepted. I responded by going out with a friend and buying a Pizza and celebrating. The Lordís response to me was "Why are you giving up so easily? If you donít get involved in the Battle then you will be overcome by the battle." Jane, only Jesus knows what is coming and can prepare us for what is coming and tell us what to do to be safe. These people were overcome because they werenít seeking the Lord and so they didnít know what was coming, werenít prepared for it and were overcome by it.

"Many are the plans in a manís heart, but the counsel of Yehovah, it will stand." (Proverbs 19:21)

"The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Yehovah." (Proverbs 16:1)

"There is no wisdom and no understanding and no counsel against Yehovah." (Proverbs 21:30)

"For I am El, and there is no other Elohim, there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ĎMy-counsel will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasureí." (Isaiah 46:9-10)

"For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute. In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His counsel, interposed with an oath, in order that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have strong encouragement, we who have fled for refuge in laying hold of the hope set before us." (Hebrews 6:16-18)

Sincerely in Jesus,

Dale P. Kruse
