Jesus' Claims
To Deity

* A leper and Jesus claimed he was God (Luke 17:15-17)

* Jesus claims to be the Son of God, thus of the essence of God, God Himself: "And they all said, ‘Are You the Son of God, then?’ And He said to them, ‘Yes I am.’" (Luke 22:70)

* Jesus claims to be the King of the Jews: "And Pilate asked Him, saying, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ And He answered and said, ‘It is as you say.’" (Luke 23:3)

* Jesus claims to be above all, only God is above all (John 3:31)

* Jesus claims to have the Holy Spirit without measure. Only infinite God has the Holy Spirit without measure (John 3:34)

* The Samaritans claimed that Jesus is the Savior of the world, "this One is indeed the Savior of the world" (John 4:42). Jehovah claimed that He and He alone is Savior (Isaiah 43:10-11). The Samaritans claimed Jesus to be Jehovah.

*The Jewish leaders claimed that Jesus was claiming to be equal with God , thus of the essence of God, God Himself (John 5:18)

* Jesus claims that God the Father shows Him all things that He is doing. Only God with an infinite heart can know all He is doing. Jesus claims to have an infinite heart, thus He claims to be God (John 5:20)

* Jesus claims that He can give life to whomever he wishes (John 5:21). Paul tells us plainly that God alone possesses immortality (1 Tim 6:16). For Jesus to claim to give life to anyone is for Jesus to claim to be God.

* Jesus claims that the Father has given all judgment to Him so that he will receive equal honor as the Father, thus claiming to be equal with the Father (John 5:22-23), Jesus claims to be God.

1A. Only infinite God can judge all things justly. God the Father gave this honor to Jesus so men would recognize His true nature: God.

* Jesus claims to have life in Himself, immortal life (John 5:26). Paul tells us that only God possesses immortality (1 Tim 6:16)

* Jesus claims that Moses wrote about Him in Genesis, thus claiming that He is Jehovah God our Creator (John 5:46-47)

* Jesus claims to be I AM, !Egwv Eijmi, the Septuagint formula for Jehovah, in John 6:20, thus claiming to be the God of Moses.

* Jesus claims to be the Bread of Life and that all who will come to Him will never hunger again, thus claiming to be the source of Life, thus God Himself (John 6:33-35)

* Jesus claims that He is the Light of the World, not a messenger of God’s light, but that He Is the Light Himself, thus drawing the focus to Himself, thus declaring Himself God; even the Pharisees declared that He bore witness of Himself (John 8:12-13).

* Jesus claims to be Jehovah from above, I AM, and states clearly unless we believe that He is Jehovah God come in the flesh we will die in our sins (John 8:23-24).

* Jesus said that once He was crucified, His being Jehovah in the flesh, I AM, would be revealed (John 8:28).

* Jesus claims that he who is of God hears the words of God and then said that if you do not hear His Words you are not of God, thus claiming to be God (John 8:31, 8:46-47)

* Martha claimed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world. (John 11:27).

* Jesus made plain that His mission was to draw men to Himself, to make Himself the center of attention. This is contrary to what Jehovah Witnesses teach which is that God was saving men through Him. Jesus said He is salvation (John 12:32)

* Jesus claims to be our Teacher & Lord (John 13:13).

* Jesus said that He revealed the future to the disciples before it came to pass so that they would know that He is I AM, Jehovah God in the flesh (John 13:19).

* Acts 20:28 states "shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood." A plain statement that Jesus is God.

* In Titus 1:3 Paul states: "according to the commandment of God our Savior." Then in Titus 1:4 he states, "Christ Jesus our Savior." If this is not clear enough to the reader, Paul again in Titus 2:13 states clearly: "looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus." Paul makes plain here that Jesus is God our Savior.

* In 2 Peter 1:1 Peter declares about Jesus Christ that He is our "God and Savior."
