PROPHECY

God Does Nothing
He Has Not
Revealed Before Hand

Amos 3:7
Isaiah 46:9-10
Isaiah 48:3, 5
Isaiah 44:6-7

Why God
Reveals The Future

  1. So that we will know who His true prophets are.
  2. So we will know who God really is: Yehovah Elohim.
  3. So that we will know that it is He who has performed them and not some demon or false idol.
  4. So that we will know that it is He who is truly the author of the events that take place.

There are many religious books in the world, but outside of the Judeo-Christian Bible there is not one containing detailed prophecies about the future. Why? Because there is only one God and as we already shared earlier, His signature to what is His Words and His Book: the Judeo-Christian Bible is His prophecies to us about the future and there fulfillment.

Jesus Said over and over
He Came to Fulfill Prophecy

There are over two-thousand prophecies in the Old Testament, three-hundred and thirty-two of these concern Jesus Christ alone. Many more deal with events that have been fulfilled not only in this century but within the past few decades.

Significance of Bible Prophecy

  1. First it concludes that there is a divine intellect behind the Old and New Testament.
  2. Second, it establishes the fact of God.
  3. third, it authenticates the Deity of Jesus.
  4. and fourth, it demonstrates God’s control and inspiration of the Bible.

How Many Prophecies

  1. There are 1,817 individual predictions in the Bible.
  2. Concerning 737 separate subjects
  3. Found in 8,352 verses.
  4. Which take up 27% of the 31,124 verses that are in the Bible.

The Removing of the Scepter

Genesis 49:10

Jacob prophesied to his son Judah in Genesis 49:10, "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples." (Gen 49:10). Though in Israel’s history they had lost their personal national identity and had for a time been dominated by Babylon, not until they came under Roman domination did they lose their right to rule their own people with the death penalty which the scepter symbolized. According to this prophecy the Messiah would not come until this scepter was removed from Israel. The removing of this scepter began to take place when Herod the Great, who had no Jewish blood, succeeded the Maccabean princes, who belonged to the tribe of Levi and who were the last Jewish kings to have their reign in Jerusalem.271 It was solidified, though, under his son Archelaus in 11 A.D.272 The procurators, who administered in the Augustus name, took the supreme power of the Sanhedrin away so they could exercise the jus gladii themselves; that is, the sovereign right over life and death sentences. All the nations under Roman dominance had this right removed. As Tacitus said, "The Romans reserved to themselves the right of the sword, and neglected all else." Later it was written in the Talmud: "A little more than forty years before the destruction of the Temple, the power of pronouncing capital sentences was taken away from the Jews."273 Rabbi Rachmon wrote,

"When the members of the Sanhedrin found themselves deprived of their right over life and death, a general consternation took possession of them; they covered their heads with ashes, and their bodies with sackcloth, exclaiming: `Woe unto us, for the scepter has departed from Judah, and the Messiah has not come!’"209/28-30

Fulfillment: Exodus 12:40-41

2. 70 years in Babylon

Prophecy: Jeremiah 25:11, Ezra 1:3

Fulfillment

Captivity: by Nebuchadnessar of Babylon in 606 B.C.

Released: by King Cyrus of Persia in 536 BC, in the month Nisan, 70 years exactly

Prophecies:

Ezekiel 4:3-6 God gave Ezekiel a further prophecy which revealed when Israel would become a sovereign nation again

1A. Israel would be punished for 390 plus 40 equaling 430 solar years.

2A. The beginning point of Israel’s world captivity started at the end of their 70 years of captivity in Babylon which was Nisan 1, 536 BC (Mar 14)

Leviticus 26:18 - Israel did not repent so punished 7 times more 7 times the remaining 360 years which equals 2,520 biblical years from 536 B.C. which equals 2,483.8 calendar years. 2,483.8 years minus 536.4 B.C. years equals 1,947.4 years A.D. There was no zero year from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D., so you add one more year which brings it to May 14, 1948. On May 14, 1948 the Jews proclaimed their independence and the rebirth of the nation of Israel.

Isaiah 66:8 "Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons."

Fulfillment of These Prophecies

Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way: Mary, the mother of Him, being betrothed to Joseph before they came together was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. But, her husband Joseph, being just, and not willing to expose her by way of example, purposed to put her away secretly. And as he was thinking on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord was seen by him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit. And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins. Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, 'Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which translated means, "God with us.’"’ (Isaiah 7:14) And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus."

Luke 1:26-35, 2:4-7 "Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel [man, or warrior of El] was sent from God to a city in Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming in he said to her, ‘Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.’ But she was greatly troubled at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this might be. And the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus[Isaiah 9:6-7]. And Mary said to the angel, ‘How can this be, since I have not known a man?’ And the angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God’. . . . And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."
